Fishing Report - October 2007
Thanks for visiting and I hope to see you soon,Well we are already into October and so far so good on Hurricanes but not out of the woods yet. The weather that we are getting though has been a little on the windy side but I think that is what we need for the fishing to pick up. A few cold fronts and we will be in business.Last trip we had some nice Dolphin with a Wahoo and on the way in stopped on a wreck and caught a 42-lb Cobia. That's the way to end a day. It's nice to see the Dolphin bite start to pick up again and I believe that's from the winds we are getting now. A boat out of Stuart the other day had 25 Dolphin and 4 Sailfish, so that tells you that it's really picking up. With the weather changing and the fishing starting to pick up, I expect it to be a good fall season. As far as the bottom bite , that too is getting better due to the weather. There was a big ground swell last week that really stirred things up on the beach. There were a lot of baby turtles and turtle eggs washed out to sea and the Snappers and Groupers love to come in and feed on them. I know it sounds bad but that's Mother nature.Inshore fishing along the beach when its not rough has been good due to the massive amounts of mullet running down the beach and into the inlets. There are Sharks, Tarpon, Snook, Mackerel and Bluefish all feeding in the schools. You can fish from the beach or boat when this is going on. Sometimes the fish chase these mullet clear up onto the beach. The Top Shelf will be competing in the Grand Slam Broadbill Classic on the 20th with over $10,000 on the line with the biggest fish that has to be at least 120lbs. So wish us luck and I will post the results after.
